Empowering Impact
Through Collective Action

At SaltExchange, we're all about collaboration. By partnering with visionary philanthropists and investing in trusted, collaborative organizations, we're breaking down barriers and inefficiencies to create lasting change that reverberates through communities far and wide.

Our initial focus? Urgent global issues.

We believe that by working together we can change the world.

But we can’t get there by doing things the same old way... or by going it alone.

Our Founder’s Vision

SaltExchange was founded by Johanna Sheridan, a passionate advocate for collaborative philanthropy. With a background in leading a family foundation in New York City, Johanna discovered the profound need for peer learning and cooperation between funders and nonprofits on philanthropic outcomes.

Her realization was clear: "While philanthropists should be cheered for investing in nonprofits, normal practices are not usually collaborative, even though many philanthropists are working toward the same goals. But, as in business and sports, a team needs to effectively work together to be successful. How much more important this principle is when it comes to fighting abhorrent crimes, such as the sexual exploitation of children."

Our Management Team

We’re building a diverse team of professionals with experience across industries to help design and build the future of philanthropy.

“The traditional capital markets operate efficiently because of mechanisms like due diligence and analytical information available to investors. Unfortunately, the philanthropic capital markets lack the same institutional framework to create the transparency needed to allow capital to be pooled and flow efficiently to the most effective solutions. With the excellent Philanthropic Brief and this new Collective Action: Preliminary Report, SaltExchange goes a long way to addressing this issue.”

“I greatly appreciate SaltExchange bringing together resource partners to engage with seemingly “unsurmountable mountains”. Individually they are unsurmountable but partnering we can scale the mountains that we all face in our world.”
